Bulletin No. 2

Croatian Aeronautical Federation and Aeroklub "Osijek" are plesaed to invite you to participate in 5th European Championship for Radio Controlled Thermal Duration Gliders, Class F3J, which will be held in Osijek (Croatia) on July 17th - July 23rd in year 2005. Additional information will be available in further bulletins that will be provided in following months.

Competiton:

5th European Championship for Thermal Duration Gliders, Class F3J. Entries are welcome from individuals and national teams. Seniors and Juniors will fly in separate classes. A competitor is considered to be a junior up to and including the year in which he attains the age of 18.

Teams:

Teams are consisted of three pilots (three Seniors and three Juniors) and Team Manager. Each pilot is also allowed, according to the rules, to have three helpers, and Team Manager if needed.

 

Place:

Osijek, City placed in the eastern part of Croatia, represents regional centre for this part of country.

 

Location:

Sport Airport Osijek, situated 3 km SW from the center of Osijek (on the road Osijek – Đakovo). It is stretches on 80 ha of land and has grass landing field and concrete landing field (1200 x 30 meters) with all additional contents. Coordinates: 45°32'33,77"N 18°37'55,66"E

17. – 23. 07. 2005

 

Training:

Training is possible one whole week before start of the Championship, from July 10th – July 16th. All interested countries must contact organisers to confirm their arrivail for training.

Training must be organised in coordination with Ariport stuff, because other flying activites will take place.

During European Championship NOTAM will be issued, and other then Championship activities, will be stopped.

* We estimate that one whole round for Seniors and Juniors will take 2 hours and 45  minutes to complete. The intent will be to fly as many rounds as can be reasonably accommodated in the five days allocated for flying (our estimate is 14 senior and 14 junior rounds), followed by the four fly - off rounds in senior category and four fly – off rounds for junior category.  Flying will start at 09:00 each day and finish at about 19:00. The reserve day will be Saturday July 23rd, but only if we do not manage to fly at least 9 rounds for Seniors and Juniors. This decision will be made in arrangement with Team Managers.

 

Applications:

Closing date for applications is April 30th, 2005., even if entry fees will be paid later.

Preliminary entries are welcome as soon as this Bulletin is published, but all changes and final official entries must be delivered before April 30th.

These fees do not include any meals or accommodation.

All entry fees must be paid before April 30th 2005.

Entry fees paid until February 28th will have 5 % disscount.

Entry fees paid from May 1st – May 31st will be charged with 5 % extra.

Entry fees paid from June 1st – June 30th will be charged with 10 % extra.

Entry fees paid from July 1st – July 16th will be charged wih 50 % extra.

Regulations:

The competition is organized in accordance with FAI Sporting Code, section  4b and 4c.

 

Scoring:

The worst score from qualifying rounds will be deducted from total score.

First 12 Senior competitors will go to fly – off*.

First 12 Junior competitors will go to fly – off*.

There will be 4 fly – off rounds for Seniors and Juniors, and the worst score will be deducted from fly – off total score.

(*)This is only propositin, and final decision will be made in arrangement with Team Managers, regarding number of competitors in each class.

 

Results:

Will be posted on boards during the competition. Online results will be available through whole competition each day, on web page: http://www.ak-osijek.hr/f3jech2005/

 

Prizes:

FAI Medals for first three competitors in Senior and Junior ranking

FAI Medals for first three teams in Championship for Senior and Junior ranking

Organizer will give trophies for first three competitors in Senior and Junior ranking and for first three teams.

 

Entering:

Competitors and team managers must be in possession of a valid FAI Sporting License, obtainable from NAC'S. This license is to be presented at registration prior to participation in the championship. Failure to present a valid FAI License will result in non-participation. Each competitor must have  minimum 2 pairs of crystals

* By the decission of CIAM Bureau Meeting (3-4 December 2004.) the new Internatinal jury has been defined for F3J European Championship 2005. As we have been informed by Mr. Luca Gialanella
CIAM Secretary, jury that we have proposed did not meet CIAM requirements.

Insurance:

Organizers are not responsible for any kind of damage either to a property or to the health of competitors, and competitors are personally responsible for any damage they make either themselves or each other

 

National flags and anthems

Each national team is requested to bring with them to the championship one standard national flag (approximately 120 x 150 cm) and cassette tape or CD with their national anthem

 

Electricity:

For electrical appliances and charging equipment, electricity in Croatia operates on 220 volts (50Hz), with 2 pin round wall sockets

 

Meals:

Arrangement will be made at the airport for competitors to buy refreshments, drinks and  food during competition days with price 4 EUR for meal per person. Mini market is situated across the Airport entrance.

 

Banquet:

The banquet will be held on Friday July 22nd at 19:30 and price will be 30 EUR per person.

 

Weather:

Climate in this part of Croatia is very good, the winters are not too cold, and summers are quite warm. During the summer  there are average 7 - 10 rain days per month, but these are tipical rain showers that last few hours

 

Frequencies:

The following RC frequencies are allowed for use by the aeromodellers in Croatia:

Other frequencies, if needed, must be sent to organizers, which will provide permit for use, if possible

 

Protest Fee:

A protest may be submitted in accordance with the FAI Sporting Code, Section 4b, item B.14, accompanied by a protest fee of 30 EUR, refundable if the protest is approved.

 

Visa:

Please check if visa is necessary to enter Croatia from other countries. This is task of every individual competitor for himself, or for national team as group.
